Youth Center Information: The Flagler County Youth Center is a recreational facility open to any Flagler County Residents, in grades 7th -12th, Monday- Friday, from 2:00pm -7:00pm. To access the facility everyone needs a Flagler County School ID Card. Transportation to and from the facility is NOT provided.

SWAT TEAM at Youth Center: Students Working Against Tobacco:  Melissa Boyles (Chair), Victoria Sanito (V. Chair), Bianca Aviles, and Brandy DeMarco: Victoria Sanito & Melissa Boyles hosted a SWAT Table, at The Government Service Building, during “Children Day” Celebration. Loaded with information, coloring books and of course candy, the two stressed the value of NEVER smoking. Victoria even outlined on the floor a body, stressing how “Smoking Kills”.

Flagler DJJ Council Celebrates “Youth Success Week”: Area youth, who have turned their lives around, become successful and an asset to Flagler County, were honored at a dinner, sponsored by the Kiwanis, Flagler County Youth Center and Office of Student Services, on Thursday, February 2nd, in celebration of “Youth Success Week”.  Area schools and local agencies were given an opportunity to nominate youth deserving recognition for making positive changes in their lives. Each nominee, not only received recognition and a dinner, for a job well done, but also took home an award and certificate. Honored Youth include: Avery Throne (BES), Jordon Munoz (BTES), Jamel Brown (OKES), Tyrone Jones (RES), Matthew Winternheimer (WES), Hannah Harrison (Phoenix), Paige Gresham (ITMS), Stephen McErlane (BTMS), Michele Montanez (FPC), Justin Thomas (MHS), Eric Fields (DJJ), Takirra Baker (Stewart Marchman), Jordan Cloer (Stewart Marchman), Mary-Catherine Fanning (Stuart Marchman), Ja’Queisha Williams (FCYC), Olivia Gambino-Perez (Teen Court), Gina Gambino-Perez (Teen Court), Devin Suskey (Teen Court), Demond Allen (Abundant Life Ministries). Congratulation to each and every Flagler County youth!

 

Summer Camp: Yes, it’s NOT too early to be thinking about your Summer Camp options!  Before you know it, summer will be here and available camp slots limited.  Open Enrollment for the Youth Center’s Summer Camp , is set for Thursday, March 1st. The camp is limited to 60, 6th -8th grade students. Current 5th graders are eligible to register. The cost is $125, for the entire summer program. Trips are available, but not included in the registration fee. Additional Information can be obtained by calling 386-437-7540 X5101, and Registration Forms will be available at: http://fcyc.isgreat.org, by the end of February.

VOiCE: WHERE ART & TECHNOLOGY COLLIDE!! On Thursday, February 9th, 5:00pm, in the Lounge, of the G.W. Carver Center, Voice will roll out their fist magazine publication! A youth magazine created and designed by G.W. Carver youth. If you can find the time, I strongly suggest you mark your calendar and plan to attend this grand occasion, and check out, first hand, how talented many of Flagler County youth truly are.
