Preventative Maintenance

We have a very aggressive preventive maintenance (PM) program for all School Board Vehicles.

• 8,000 mile PM - ONE TIME 8,000 PM for all new vehicles.  At 8,000 miles we change all fluids over to Synthetics, and from that point on we do 12,000 and 24,000, and 48,000 PM services.
• 12,000 mile PM - Engine oil filter, top off all other fluids, and inspection.
• 24,000 mile PM - Engine oil, engine oil filter, fuel filters, water filter, transmission filter, inspection.
• 48,000 mile PM - Engine oil, engine oil filter, fuel filters, water filter, transmission oil, transmission filters, hoses, belts, inspection.

Every piece of equipment is inspected at least once a year. Some vehicles and equipment do not make the mileage requirement within a year.  Therefore they are on a time schedule every 365 days, which allows us to inspect vehicle for any defects.

Additionally by Florida Law our school buses must be inspected every 30 days. The 30-day inspection is a complete inspection of the bus, which takes about 2 hours to complete. A school bus certification is required to perform this 30-day inspection.
