Evelyn L Shellenberger was born in Versailles, Kentucky and moved to Florida in 1972 to teach at Browning Pearce Elementary School in East Palatka, Florida. She graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a BS in Health, Physical Education and Recreation in 1969. In 1971 she graduated from Murray State University with a MA in Health, Physical Education and Recreation. After moving to Florida in 1972, she began taking Educational Administration and Supervision Courses at the University of Florida Upon completion of those courses and additional certifications, she began her career in Education Administration. In 1977 Evelyn was appointed to the position of Dean of Students at Beasley Middle School in Palatka Florida. From 1979-1983 she served as Assistant Principal of Jenkins Middle School in Palatka, Florida. During the years of 1983-85 she served as Principal of Miller Middle School in Crescent City, Florida. Her next Administrative assignment was as Director of Personnel for the Putnam County School System where she served in this capacity from 1985-89 before moving to Flagler County as Director of Personnel which enjoyed and then in 1992 made the decision to complete here final 9 years in education by returning to the school site and serving as Activities Director at Flagler Palm Coast High School. By returning to a school site she felt she would regain the knowledge of that level of education which in turn could benefit her if she was elected to the School Board. In 2002 Evelyn become a member of the Flagler County School Board and currently is serving her second term of office. Among her other areas of interest she is pursuing are: environmental issues, safety issues, continued improvement in reading, and wellness of our students and staffs. Evelyn takes pride in her position and enjoys serving the community as a member of the School Board. She states she will continue to do her best to make the right decisions for the District. | District 5
