Substitute Teaching

Thank you for your interest in becoming a substitute teacher with the Flagler County SchoolDistrict. Substitute teaching is an excellent way to learn about the schools while allowing principals, teachers and staff to get to know you. The following is required in order tobecome a substitute:
Required: 60 College Credits or an Associates Degree or higher, prefer prior
teaching experience or having worked with children in a classroom setting.
Step 1 - Submit an Online Application
You must apply for a position in order to create an application.  If there are no substitute positions posted and you would like to create an application in order to be prepared for future instructional postings, select General Instructional & Admin Application.
Step 2 - Submit Official Transcripts                                        
Transcripts must indicate that 60 College Credits have been earned or an Associates Degree or higher has been awarded.  If your degree was earned outside the United States, you must provide an evaluation of your degree.  Transcripts should be brought in or mailed to Flagler County School District, Human Resources, 1769 E. Moody Blvd (Bldg 2), Bunnell, FL 32110
Step 3 - STOP - Wait to be contacted by Kim Hunt, Human Resources Substitute Coordinator, before proceeding to Step 4 - 8.
Step 4 - Required Reading & Pre-Employment Documents
Review the Required Reading for Substitutes then print and complete the New Hire Packet for Substitutes, Temporaries, As Needed & Coaches.  New hire paperwork must be turned into HR.  Please be sure to have your driver's license and social security card with you as a copy will need to be made for your personnel file. For your pay checks to be direct deposit, please bring a blank check marked "VOID" or a letter from your bank containing the routing and bank account numbers.
Step 5 - Fingerprint & Background Clearance                    
Come to the Human Resources office to complete the fingerprinting process. The cost for fingerprints is $50.00. Payment can be made by credit card or money order.
Step 6 - Attendance of a Mandatory Substitute Orientation
It is mandatory that you attend the substitute orientation. Applicants will be notified by email of the time, date, and location of the substitute orientation.   Failure to do so will not allow you to be cleared or placed on the substitute list.
Step 7 - Approval
Upon completion Steps 1-5, receipt of fingerprint and background clearance from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, drug  screening, reference checks, and verificiation of credentials (including transcripts), the applicant's name will be submitted to AESOP.  The AESOP Coordinator will contact you with registration instructions and provide you with a PIN and ID number.
Step 8 - Obtain ID Badge
Upon receipt of your pin number, you will need to come to the FCSD Human Resources office to obtain an ID badge.
