The College Board recently released the results of the Advanced Placement (AP) Exams for the 2011 administration. In the School District of Flagler County 519 students took a total of 821 AP exams. Exams were scored using a scale of 1-5, with 5 being the highest. Students who score 3 and above are eligible to receive college credit for that subject. The breakdown of district performance by total exams and score:

Of the 821 exams taken 40% of these tests scored at 3 and above.
The AP program offers several AP scholar awards to recognize high school students who have demonstrated college-level achievement through AP courses and exams, AP Scholar, AP Scholar with Honor, AP Scholar with Distinction and National AP Scholar.
The district had a total of 54 students who qualified to be recognized in these special categories.

• The National AP Scholar is awarded to students who have received an average score of at least 4 on all AP exams taken and scores of 4 and higher on eight or more of these exams.
• The AP Scholar with Distinction is awarded to students who have received an average score of 3.5 on all AP exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.
• The AP Scholar with Honor is awarded to students with an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.
• The AP Scholar is awarded to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams.
Rebecca G. Wight a senior from Matanzas High School had an average score of 4.60 on ten total exams with nine of those ten scores 4.0 or above and was the district recipient of the National AP Scholar Award.
