Flagler Musicians chosen for Florida Allstate Choirs

Thursday, January 25, 2018 - 2:56pm

The Florida allstate choruses are highly select students from Florida’s middle and senior high school music programs who are brought together for the purposes of rehearsing and performing selected music with guest performers.   The rehearsals and performances took place in Tampa Florida during the Florida Music Educators Conference January 10 - 12th.

Students are scored on written musicianship,  sight reading and vocal quality.  Students are chosen by high score and "seats" are given to the students who received the highest scores.

These auditions are rigorous and require a great deal of individual study on the part of the student.

Representing Flagler county in the Allstate choirs this year:

Ethan Drost from Indian Trails Middle School

Brea Dwyer, Simon Coolican, Andrew DeZego and Matthew Eaton from Matanzas HS

Cassidy Van Brink, Sean Callahan and Savannah DeCosta from Flagler Palm Coast HS

“Getting a seat in an All-State choir is quite the challenge, because the standards and expectationes are sky-high. Plus, you’re competing with thousands of other TALENTED students from all over the state.

I’ll always remember All-State because there’s nothing like being in a room FILLED with collaborative musicians as passionate about their craft as you are.”
