Flagler Schools to Unveil Connect Bus

Tuesday, November 14, 2017 - 3:02pm

Join Flagler Schools on Tuesday, November 21st as we unveil our Connect Bus to the general public with a ribbon cutting.

The Connect Bus is a mobile program designed to be a flexible learning space equipped with wireless access, multiple device options to access information and create numerous other opportunities for community outreach.  It provides a means to connect with our parents, students, and community anytime, anyplace, anywhere!

The bus will travel to various locations across Flagler County to serve and support community members.  Designed with flexibility of use in mind it will be used for a wide variety of purposes such as meeting with school guidance counselors and others to help parents set up and check Skyward accounts (which allows parents to monitor a student’s grades, attendance and other data points), accessing financial aid assistance and other post-secondary scholarship information, training for parents on a variety of topics such as digital citizenship, or learning how to help your child with increasing reading skills. The possibilities are endless.

The Connect Bus is the culmination of a partnership between Flagler Schools, the Flagler County Education Foundation as well as the United Way of Volusia and Flagler County, and Ameris Bank. The bus itself originally served as a cornerstone for the popular Make It-Take It program begun by former School Board member Dr. James Guines. That program provided computers to students who otherwise would not have had access to technology.

Our ribbon cutting takes place at 4:30 on November 21st in front of the Government Services Building, 1769 E. Moody Blvd., Bunnell, Florida.
