While St. Johns County's Spelling Bee Champion Sreeniketh Vogoti heads to the National Spelling Bee for a second consecutive year, he can probably thank a Flagler County speller for pushing him during the North Florida Regional championship for as many times.

Indian Trails Middle School student Sarah Flannery went word-for-word with Vogoti for more than 50 rounds. The North Florida Regional Spelling Bee was held in Jacksonville on March 4. By the time the last word was spelled correctly (facade), Sarah and Sreeniketh had competed for three hours nonstop! According to reports from the spelling bee, local bee organizers could not remember a recent competition lasting so many rounds. As first runner-up, Sarah received a cash reward, dictionary and gift card.

Last year's Flagler County spelling bee champion, Sean Gilliam was second runner-up, lasting 8 rounds. Vogoti went on to a top-ten finish in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. The North Florida Region includes 14 counties.
