Important Bus Information
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! Flagler Schools Transportation’s goal is to provide safe, secure, efficient, and professional transportation for our students. The purpose of this letter is to inform you of the review of the existing/revised Kindergarten and 1st through 3rd-grade student drop off procedures.
KINDERGARTEN DISMISSAL PROCEDURES
Every bus driver shall employ the highest standards of safety for every student exiting the bus at their designated stop in the afternoons. When it comes to our youngest riders, for at least the first two weeks of school, kindergarten students will be given a yellow wristband to be placed on their backpack that will list their last name, bus name, and bus stop location. Upon arriving at a bus stop, the driver will check the wristband to ensure the student is getting off at the correct stop. The driver will verify the student information to the “Kindergarten Dismissal Information” form. The driver will then verify the designee pick-up information and check identifications of designees as necessary. If a designee is not listed on the form or if a designee is not at the bus stop to receive the student, the student will be returned to their school.
1st THROUGH 3rd GRADE DISMISSAL PROCEDURES (OPTIONAL)
Beginning this school year, parents will have the option of asking the school to place an identifying wristband on the backpack of students in grades 1 through 3. This will assist bus drivers and school staff in identifying what bus the student rides and at what bus stop location they are to depart during afternoon drop-offs. This will add an additional layer of safety and security to our existing offloading procedures to ensure students are departing at their designated bus stop. Please contact the school your student attends if you are interested in this program.
We in Transportation are very excited about the upcoming school year. Thank you for your time and we look forward to another great school year!
