Senior update May 18th

Graduation Tickets!!!!   I have good news…  The Ocean Center has agreed to work with us and release some more tickets for the graduation ceremony.  The arena is set in a “hockey configuration” for graduation,  meaning the lower level seats are all pushed in (this is why the seating capacity is considerable lower then what is on their website for concert seating), but they have listened to me and the community outcry and are reconfiguring things to open up another 300+ seats.

Distribution of these tickets will be on Thursday May 24th between 7pm -8:00pm in the FPCHS Activities office.  Tickets will only be released to graduates and/or parents with ID.  The school will release 3 tickets per graduate while supplies last.  A waiting list will also be created that evening in the off chance not all tickets are given out.

Our intent is to make these tickets available for family members of those graduating.  If you have enough tickets for your immediate family please be considerate of those that do not.

GRADUATES do NOT need a ticket… your gown is your ticket in the door ONLY family and friends sitting in the stands will be required to have a ticket for admission.

Age ---if you need a seat you need a ticket!

Handicapped Seating on the floor ---first come first serve, handicapped individual and ONE attendant may be on the arena floor in the handicapped seating area (still needs a ticket)

Every car will be required to pay a $5 parking fee. Pre-sale parking passes will be available at ticket distribution. These are the same price as what the OC will charge if you show up without one but purchasing ahead helps with traffic plus the school gets a $ kick back.

Baccalaureate:

Baccalaureate is a non-denominational blessing of the senior class.  Graduates wear their cap/gown and participate in a processional… this is a great alternative for friends you would have liked to bring to graduation but do not have tickets for.  The event is Wednesday May 23rd and starts promptly at 7pm… its daylight and a wonderful opportunity to get pictures with the graduates.  Please join us at Santa Maria Del Mar Catholic Church on north 9th street in Flagler Beach.

Cap/Gown

I still have some caps and gowns that have not been picked up.  If you pre-ordered one please stop by the activities office to collect yours.  I also still have some cash and carry gowns available ($55), however the size selection is getting pretty limited.

Senior Week May 21-25

The week of May 21-May 25th is officially the seniors last week of school and therefore names “Senior Week”

Senior Crowns will be available beginning Friday the 18th for you to take home and decorate
Sorry No Senior Crowns… Burger King is no longer carrying them L

The senior signing board will be available for seniors during lunches Mon/Tues/Wed

Exams will be given Tuesday and Wednesday… Study Study Study!

Senior Parade will be Wednesday morning.  Everyone will meet in the Hospital parking lot at 7am to decorate cars (paint and decorations are NOT provided – bring towels to dry your windows).  The parade will then pull out, with a police escort, at 7:40 to arrive on campus immediately following bus dismissal.

Wed. is your last day of school, unless you have a make-up exam which will be given on Thursday.

Wednesday night is Baccalaureate, a non-denominational blessing of the Flagler County Graduates (combined with MHS) at Santa Maria Del Mar in Flagler Beach (north 9th street).  The service begins at 7pm followed by refreshments… this is a GREAT opportunity for family and friend pictures since its day light and you are wearing your cap/gown.  If anyone wishes to do a reading or give a reflection speech, please stop by to see me… I am looking for 2 individuals from different churches.

Friday is the senior Beach Party from 11am-2 on the south side of the pier.  I am still looking for cash donations to help purchase food and drinks for the seniors, but defiantly want to give a shout out to the parents who have been out there begging for donations; Val Sanson, Sue Noble, Marla Singletary, Theresa Vega, Diane Romeo (I hope I didn’t miss anyone… so sorry if I did).

Graduation Practice and Graduation Ceremony

Practice is scheduled for Wednesday the 30th at 1pm in the FPCHS 800 gym.  Seniors are asked to park in the back parking lot.  Obviously it will depend on the cooperation of the senior class, but we should be done by 2:30.  This is a mandatory event!

The graduation ceremony is Thursday May 31st.  Graduates must be in the Ocean Center Expo Hall (on the west side of the building) at 6pm… this is also the time that doors open to family and friends.  The ceremony ends with a recessional that leads the graduates OUT of the building so please plan a spot outside the OC to meet after the ceremony.

Okay I think that’s about it….  SENIORS please BE SMART!!!!  You only have a few days left but there is still a lot on the line.  Don’t do something stupid and jeopardize your ability to participate in the graduation ceremony.  That ceremony is a privilege not a right and it can be taken away.
