Currently some teachers offer Drop-in-Tutoring during lunch and after school. Please check with your teachers, as these services are provided on an individual and voluntary basis. Remember that if a teacher offers this service, you will be responsible for getting a pass from the teacher in advance so that you will be allowed to leave the lunch area.

Assistance can be requested from students, teachers, counselors, and parents. Students must be willing to make a commitment to become and remain an active participant in the tutorial session(s).

We are in the process of developing FPC's Peer Tutoring Program.

Our goal this year is to train and activate 50 peer tutors at FPCHS.

The training program is one-hour and focuses on effective teaching techniques and communication skills.

  • Prospective peer tutors need to be able to show patience and the ability to give meaningful suggestions, praise and encouragement.
  • Peer tutors will have an adult coach for training and support.
  • Peer tutors will need to be prepared to learn the teaching techniques and communication skills.
  • Peer tutors should be motivated about learning.
  • Peer tutors should want to help others and show compassion.
  • Peer tutors should be able to stay with their chosen tutoring time.
  • Peer tutors should tutor in academic areas in which they know and enjoy.
