GSB 2010 Florida Youth Survey Results Available
The Florida Youth Survey 2010 results have been published. This survey collects information about student behaviors and beliefs in regard to alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, as well as bullying and at-risk behaviors. The entire document is available at http://www.dcf.state.fl.us/programs/samh/publications/fysas. The attached video explains the general findings of the report for Flagler County. 797 students in grades 6-12 participated in the survey.
One of the key factors influencing the choices students make is the expectations communicated clearly by parents and adult caregivers. Children must know exactly where adults stand in regard to alcohol and drug use. Another important influence is the example set by adults. Availability of drugs and alcohol is also one of the main factors as to whether a student will choose to use. Please communicate with your children about your expectations regarding drugs, alcohol, and bullying.
