 Course Title: Introduction to Technology

Course Number: 2301030

Major Concepts / Content: The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the world of technology, it's development and it's use. Laboratory experiences revolve around the informational, physical, and biological technologies and will allow students to explore their technological environment. Through hands-on activities, students will develop technological literacy, apply basic skills, and increase their self-awareness.

The content should include, but not be limited to the following:

  •  the history of technology
  • resources of technology
  • impacts of technology
  • systems of technology
  • problem solving

Intended outcomes: After successfully completing this course, the student will:

  • Trace the history of technology
  • Describe the positive and negative effects of technology
  • Identify resources of technology
  • Use the systems approach in technology
  • Use technology to solve problems
  • Demonstrate proper and safe procedures in the technology laboratory
  • Use tools, machines, and equipment in the technology laboratory
  • Demonstrate computer literacy and applications
  • Demonstrate leadership and organizational skills
  • Apply basic skills in English, mathematics, science, and social studies appropriate to technological content and learning activities.
  • Identify individual interests and aptitudes as they relate to the world of work
