Career & Technical Education

Career & Technical Education

Career and Technical Education programs are under our "Classroom to Careers" umbrella. CTE programs prepare students for occupations important to Florida's economic development. Each program is aligned with a career cluster and is detailed in curriculum frameworks. There are 17 different clusters geared toward middle school, high school, district technical school, and Florida College System students throughout the state. With the help of partners in education, business and industry, and trade associations, each program includes the academic and technical skills required to be successful in today's economy.

Programs of Study

A Program of Study (POS) is a sequenced listing of academic and CTE courses that connects student’s high school and postsecondary educational experiences.

Incorporates and aligns secondary and postsecondary education elements.

Includes academic and CTE content in a coordinated, non-duplicative progression of courses.

Offers the opportunity, where appropriate, for secondary students to acquire postsecondary credits.

Leads to an industry-recognized credential or certificate at the postsecondary level, or an associate or baccalaureate degree.
