Bus Update for 2008-2009

  • Elementary Students that live within one (1) mile of their school will NOT be provided School Bus Transportation.

·         Secondary Students (MS/HS) that live within two (2) miles of their school will NOT be provided School Bus Transportation.

·         The reason for this is change in service is due to the lack of funding provided by Tallahassee.  Please know that we have never been funded by the State for transporting students within two (2) miles of their home zone school.

We are asking for the residents of Flagler County to help us to voice concerns over the lack of funding for education by contacting your Senators and Representatives:  They are as follows:

 OPEN ENROLLMENT FOR AFTER-SCHOOL

YOUTH STRINGS PROGRAM

The Flagler Youth Orchestra, in partnership with the Flagler County School District, launches the fourth season of its strings program on Sept. 3. Flagler students may sign up to play violin, viola, cello, or doublebass. Third grade and older encouraged. Beginner, intermediate and advanced musicians are all welcome. Tuition is free. Students are responsible for the rental or purchase of an instrument (limited instrument scholarships available.)

Students will learn about the enriching world of classical music while receiving string instruction in a player-friendly environment. Regardless of the student’s age or experience level, he or she will perform in several public concerts throughout the year.

Three one-hour classes are held at Buddy Taylor Middle School on Mondays and Wednesdays between 3 and 6 p.m. Please attend the September 3 orientation at 5:00 p.m. at Buddy Taylor to learn more. To request an enrollment form or for further information about the program, call Cheryl Tristam at 263-2543 or email cheryl@flagleryouthorchestra.org, or visit the string program’s Web site at www.flagleryouthorchestra.org.
